Ambience Generator: The Five Senses
This week's addition to the RPG Toolbox is a little GM's tool called the Ambience Generator: The Five Senses. It
is used to help add flavor and atmosphere to a game session.
When designing an adventure, a GM often times needs to describe people, places, or things in such a way that the players
are able to visualize what is happening. This Ambience Generator will greatly aid this process by giving the GM ideas
for wordds to use when describing how things look, feel, sound, smell, and taste.
How does that loaf of bread taste? What does that potion smell like? What do I hear when I listen at that
door? Consult the Ambience Generator for a few ideas.

The following sections of the iSRD are now available: Traps, Psionic Powers List, Wands, Scrolls, and Staffs.
Due to labelling confusions, the 3.5 label has been removed from the title; although, all sections were derived the SRD
currently available at wizards.com.
A preview of Map Pack: The RPG Toolbox Volume 1 is now available.

Psionic Power Formatter
Expansion of the Interactive SRD continues this week with six new programs. Each of these programs not only includes
the text of the appropriate section of the SRD, but random generators for the major tables and lists.
The first of the six to be released this week is the iSRD 3.5 Psionic Power Formatter. This is a tool to aid GM's
when designing psionic powers. The user simply makes selections from a variety of drop down lists and check boxes, fills
out the details in several different free-form text areas, then hits 'Printer Friendly.'
All of the user supplied information is conveniently formatted for ease of printing. A GM can create a catalog
of these to make available for the players.
If you create one that you're particularly proud of and would like to share, please do so at the Mortality.net forums.

New Forums at Mortality.Net
Dimensions Game Software has moved into the Hosted Publishers Forums section of Mortality.net. This is a great
place for fans to get together to share ideas, let others know how they're using the many programs currently available, and
what new products and features they would like to see added to the programs in the future.
In addition to the new forum, *adlon* of mortality.net has a few surprises up his sleeve that we're pleased to be a part
of. (More on that later!)
For now, production is beginning on a Custom Character Background Generator that is going to be designed by the members
of mortality.net and made available exclusively to visitors of Mortality.net's website. More information is availabe
here: http://mortality.net/board/read.php?TID=7251 Visitors to the site will determine what fields are included in the generator as well as what data is used to fill
those fields.
It's been a busy week. In addition to getting the forums going, the following sections of the Interactive SRD using
the new 3.5 data will be released over the next several days:
Psionic Powers Formatter
Psionic Powers List
Scrolls
Wands
Traps
Staffs

The Automated GM
This week's addition to the RPG Toolbox is a fun (well, I think it's fun) little GM's tool called the Automed GM.
Think of it as an RPG version of the popular, round, black, hand-held oracle used to answer yes/no questions in the toy
section of major department stores.
In addition to 35 variations on answers to typical yes/no questions, it contains information for minor conflict
resolution using a d20 as well as snippets to add amient sights (such as broken glass, a trail of blood, or a pile of trash) and
sounds (such as an explosion, a moaning voice, muffled crying, and maniacal laughter) to random encounters.

Willing to do some research but don't know where to start? Let the 'Starting Points' series of RPG tools point you in
the right direction. The newest addition to the series is "Freakish Phobias and Mad Manias." Use this little tool
to add some spice to your PC's or NPC's.
This interactive documents includes brief definitions of 131 types of phobias or manias. Also included is a
list of things for the GM or player to consider, ideas to keep in mind when role-playing a phobia or mania, and a few
adventure ideas.

Starting Points - Governments
Willing to do some research but don't know where to start? Let the 'Starting Points' series of RPG tools point you in
the right direction. The newest addition to the series is "Governments."
This interactive documents includes brief definitions of 25 types of governments, from Democracy to Ochlocracy.

Constellation Map Maker
This week's addition to the RPG toolbox is a Constellation Map Maker. It uses the same interface as the popular Town Map Maker. The placement grid and
the density variables remain intact, thus creating random patterns is very easy.
This new mapping utility adds the functionality of being able to choose to work with either large or small icons.
If users like this function, drop us a line and we will continue to add this function to future free mapping utlities.
The simple black and white graphics are easy on your printer's ink. The simple point-and-click interface makes
designing your own patterns, in addition to using the random generator, a breeze.

Starting Points Geological Time Periods
The Starting Points Series of interactive RPG documents gets a minor facelift this week with its newest addition, Geological
Time Periods. In addition to hosting a random generator, the Geological Time Periods document includes an
outline of the material used by the generator.
The outline provides a list of questions that a GM might want to answer when planning a session based on an alternate
time period.
The Starting Points Series was developed to aid role-playing game players, especially GM's, who are interested in doing
a little research to prepare for their sessions but don't quite know where to start. They provide enough information
to point you in the right direction, to aid the brainstorming process, to give you a few new 'keywords' for your internet
searches.
If players enjoy the new outline format, then it will be used for all future additions to the series. Geological
Time Periods is the sixth installment in the series, which includes Inventions, Famous Battles, Wars, Explorers, and Civilizations.

Intelligent Items Generator Added to the RPG Toolbox
The Intelligent Items Generator from the iSRD has been added as a standalone generator to the RPG Toolbox.
The generator will calculate the item's ability scores (Int, Wis, Cha), calculate the modifiers for each of these scores,
generate an alignment, a method of communication, an enchantment (e.g. +3), a market price modifier, primary abilities, extraordinary
powers, special purposes, and finally calculate those pesky ego points for you.
Even when using the automatic generator, each of the fields can be manually altered. For example, you generate
an item that is perfect except its intelligence is too low. All you have to do is type over the value that you don't
like.
Once all of the fields are acceptable, click the 'Printer Friendly' button to display all of the data in a 'friendlier'
format. Print your results and continue creating.

Intelligent Items Generator
Dimensions Game Software is pleased to announce the expansion of the Interactive SRD with the release of the Intelligent
Items section. In addition to die rollers for each of the 7 tables, this section includes a comprehensive Intelligent
Item Generator that incorporates all of the information with the click of a single button.
What this means is that the generator will calculate the item's ability scores (Int, Wis, Cha), calculate the modifiers
for each of these scores, generate an alignment, a method of communication, an enchantment (e.g. +3), a market price modifier,
primary abilities, extraordinary powers, special purposes, and finally calculate those pesky ego points for you.

Town Map Maker
Dimensions Game Software is pleased to announce the release of a free online mapping utility, "The Town Map Maker."
This useful utility is exactly what it says, a tool for creating town maps. The simple point-and-click interface allows
for rapid town development.
The Town Map Maker is actually one in a series of online mapping utilites included with The RPG Toolbox. The previous
installments are a catacomb creator, a forest path generator, and a star map maker. However, the Town Map Maker takes
a step forward by adding several features that are not available in the earlier utilities.
The added functions are the ability to show or hide a grid to aid in icon placement, black and white icons to aid in
printing, and an automatic generator to create random towns with the click of a button. The generator bases the placement
of buildings on a "density" variable ranging from 1% to 99% that is controlled by the user. The Town Map also features
more icons than the previous utilities: 35 for buildings and 7 for roads.

Interactive SRD Breaking Items
How many hit points does 8 inches of adamantite have? What about 60 inches of stone? Check
out the newest section of the Interactive SRD, "Breaking Items", to have it calculated for you.
Two automations have been included. The first is a little calculator to determine how many hit points a given substance
of a given thickness will possess. The other is a simple d20 roller to help with DC's.
Although this section does not have any true random item generators, it does have html formatted tables for Substance
Hardness and Hit Points, Weapon and Shield Hardness and Hit Points, DC's to Break Items, and miscellaneous Object Hardness
and Hit Points.

Interactive SRD Equipment Two
The second section of equipment has been added to the interactive SRD. The following generators are included: adventuring
gear, dry goods containers, liquid containers, toolkits, clothing, food/drink/lodging, mount or gear, vehicles, barding, ships,
transportation, and buildings.
As with the other sections, a standalone generator without all of the extra text has been added to the RPG toolbox.

d20 Contemporary Adventures
The folks at E-roleplaying.com, publishers of 30mm floorplans and other GM resources, are very pleased to announce the
release of the Contemporary Adventures Guide PDF and the Contemporary Adventures Generator CD-ROM. A print version of this
product is soon to be available.
In moments, your next modern adventure can be ready to go. The PDF includes information on over 50 different adventure
types, over 1,000 exciting locales, hundreds of different villains and monsters, shady henchmen and thugs, story plots, hundreds
of player missions and assignments. Also included is an ample supply of information to completely flesh out the NPC's: special
abilities, feats, skills, new gadgets, technological wonders, and a collection of unique background stories.
In addition to regular villains, such as street gangs, corrupt law officers, and soldiers, a set of exotic new monsters
is also included. Now you can challenge your players with the likes of attack dogs, predatory cats, demons, angels, and several
new types of vampires and the undead.
This huge amount of information will let you mix and match to quickly prepare and conduct entertaining d20 modern games
with interesting storylines to keep the players asking for more. The information can be used to lay the foundation for a campaign
of connected storylines or for quick one-night only games.
In order to help you manage all of this new information, E-roleplaying.com is pleased to be able to offer the Contemporary
Adventures Generator CD-ROM, designed by Dimensions Game Software, creator of the Interactive SRD and the RPG Toolbox set
of online tools. The generator allows you to pick the villains from a list or randomly choose them with the click of a button.
Choose your player's adventure level and use the included Stat Generator to instantly calculate the NPC's level, HD, HP, Defense,
and Speed. A complete list of weapons, equipment, special abilities, gadgets, tech wonders, and a background story are also
generated. Print the information and you're ready to go. The odds of generating the exact same adventure twice are on the
order of 500,000,000 to 1.
"Now, if I have to GM a session, I can go to the website, hit a couple buttons and have a ready made session created on-the-fly
that is generic enough to fit into my campaign, yet detailed enough to provide additional opportunities and inspirations for
some great role-playing," says Dirk Collins, of E-Roleplaying.com.
A Demo version of the software generator is available at http://files.e-roleplaying.com/demo/demoadventuregenerator.html.
Ordering information is available at http://www.e-roleplaying.com/ContemporaryCDOrder.

190 Types of Divination
Whether you call them spells, special abilities, miracles, divine intervention, skills, or feats, divinatio n
in one form or another is present in most games as well as most real-life societies. Divination ranges from the complex sacrificial
cermonies of the Aztecs to the simple modern-day eight ball. This document provides definitions for nearly 200 types of divination
as well as some simple guidelines to use when introducing divination to your game.
Some of the included techniques have robust histories with many examples of use throughout history associated
with them. A few are less known, rarely reported, or fictional. A simple online search should provide the
GM with enough details to fully flesh out a given technique.
The document is accompanied by a random generator, which works similarly to the ones used in the Interactive
SRD. It can create a set of generic game statistics for a GM to consult when introducing new types of divination into
a campaign. The stats include a list of prerequisites, such as high intelligence or manual dexterity, a time frame for
how long it takes to perform the ritual or ceremony, a percent indicating the accuracy of readings made using that particular
technique, and an indicator of how difficult it is to perform the given type of divination.
Once the GM decides on the appropriate statistics, the info can be printed out and saved for future reference.
The inclusion of an easy way to print and charts containing all of the data used by the generator are a first for Dimensions
Game Software. If the fans enjoy these features then you can expect to see them incorporated into future releases.

Interactive SRD-Equipment One
Expansion of the interactive version of the SRD continues this week with the addition of the first section of equipment
items. Generators for the following groups of items are included: trade goods, simple melee weapons, simple ranged weapons,
martial melee weapons, martial ranged weapons, exotic melee weapons, exotic ranged weapons, asian melee weapons, asian ranged
weapons, armor, shields, extras, specials, grenadelike weapons, and siege engines.
NOTE TO GAME PUBLISHERS: Making an interactive version of your product or a section of your product available is
a great way to attract visitors to your website. An interactive version of your product can be much, much more than simple
automated tables. Please check out the game statistics generator provided with 'Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric
Creatures' for another example of an interactive product. Programming fees are reasonable and turnaround time is fast.

Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Creatures
T-Rex, Velociraptor, and Brontosaurus...this online generator contains a set of historical facts for over 170 different
prehistoric creatures combined with a set of randomly determined game statistics to add a little spice. The fact-based
information includes the creatures name, size, era, range, and what general type it is.
The randomly determined game statistics are general enough to be applied to many different systems; however, they were
designed to fit best with some of the most popular on the market. Just choose a difficulty rating from 1 to 20 and click
"Generate." Statistics for any difficulty level can be created for any of the creatures.
The list of statistics includes Hit Dice, Hit Points, Number Appearing, an Initiative Modifier, Armor Class, a list of
attacks (e.g. Tongue Lash, Tail Slam, Trample), the dice to roll to determine the amount of damage caused by each attack,
a field for the occasional to rare special ability (e.g. Poison, Fear, or Hypnotize), and a final field listing possible colorations
and unique color patterns.
In all, 17 different types of regular attacks, 23 different types of special attacks, 11 basic colors in 5 different
patterns spread out over 11 different body parts are provided. This combined with over 170 different creatures
and an unlimited variety to the numerical statistics should keep things interesting until...well, at least until the next
ice age.

Microliths and Steam Engines: Introducing Starting Points-Inventions
The Starting Points series of RPG tools continues to grow at a steady pace. This newest addition to the set includes
basic information on 69 of the greatest historical inventions ever. They have been divided into four eras (The Ancient
Times, The Middle Ages, The Industrial Revolution, and The Recent Past), including everything from handheld axes, paper, and
coins to telescopes, internal combustion engines, and flying machines.
Pick an invention and do a little research to answer a few basic questions about how it might be used to enhance your current
campaign.
Has it been invented yet? Is it commonly available or relatively rare? Is its existence even known to the general population?
If it requires a power source, where does the energy come from? Magic? Psychic? Conventional resources? What is it like to
live in a world at a time when this invention was first introduced? Just prior to its introduction? In a 'modern' or 'alternate
world' campaign, what if this invention never happened? What if it was invented at a seemingly illogical time e.g. a medieval
society with a steam engine or a modern society lacking basic eyeglasses? The list is never-ending.
This tool is temporarily available for free online use.

d20 Wondrous Items and Starting Points-Famous Battles
We are pleased to be able to bring you not one, not two, but three FREE RPG tools this week! A Wondrous Items generator
for the RPG Toolbox, the complete wondrous items section for the Interactive SRD, and last, but certainly not least for fans
of the series, Starting Points-Famous Battles is now available.
Gauntlets of Ogre Power, the Cloak of Elvenkind, and the Cubic Gate---they're all included. All of the minor, medium,
and major items from the SRD wondrous items section can be found in this exciting new d20 Treasure Generator.
With the click of a button you can randomly choose one of nearly 300 different items. This weeks addition
to the RPG Toolbox will hopefully be very useful to d20 GM's.
Draw a random card from the Deck of Illusions or determine the results from blowing a Horn of Valhalla. The
complete wondrous items section of the SRD has been outfitted with over 20 generators! All available for free online
use. Converting the SRD is a monumental task, so if you enjoy this service, please let us know.
Finally, let Starting Points-Famous Battles jumpstart your brainstorming process when coming up with ideas for
epic campaigns. History is full of intriguing people and events. With this tool you can brief yourself on 23 different
turning points in history, dating from the battle of Marathon in 490 B.C. to the rise of the British East India Company circa
1757 A.D. Find a battle that interests you, then research it to discover how it might fit into your future game sessions.
Enjoy!

d20 TREASURES GALORE
What do gold pieces, platinum pieces, blue sapphires, ceremonial daggers, smokesticks, and alchemist's fire all have in
common? First, they can all be found in the SRD treasure file. Better yet, they have all been added to the new interactive
version of the SRD. ALL of the tables in the SRD-Treasure file have been outfitted with automatic generators. With just the
touch of a button, you can determine treasure for levels one through twenty, values for gems, art, etc.
"By adding generators to all of the tables, the SRD suddenly becomes an extremely useful game accessory and not just a
reference to be filed away," says Jeffrey A. Mills, DVM founder of Dimensions Game Software.
In addition to generating the appropriate coinage for up to level twenty treasures, the interactive version of the SRD
can generate gem-types and values, select art objects and appraisals, choose from the list of mundane objects, generate magic
bonuses for composite long and short bows, as well as choose minor, medium, or major magic item types. In all, the iSRD-Treasure
section has 27 tables plus generators. In the future, users will be able to select specific magic items from tables in the
sections dealing with rods, staffs, wands, etc. In all, the iSRD-Treasure section has 27 tables plus generators.
Twenty-four of the tables in the iSRD have been extracted and placed into a separate program, the d20 Treasure Generator,
that will be added to the RPG toolbox.

INTRODUCING THE INTERACTIVE SRD AND A FREE STAR MAP MAKER
The SRD is full of tons of useful information for d20 game players. Let the 'interactive' version of the SRD
make it even more useful to you. Each of the tables and lists will be fitted with a 'generator' allowing you to pick
random items or make random decisions based on the contents of the table. The first section to be completely converted
is the 'Special Abilities' section. All of the tables in this section have already been fitted with a generator.
Some of the more useful ones are the list of poisons, spell schools, and diseases. If the public is interested, all
of the sections will be converted one at a time in order of their popularity.
In addition to the interactive SRD, Dimensions Game Software is pleased to announce a free online mapping utility.
Joining the Catacomb Creator, the Islands Generator, and the Forest Path Generator, is the Star Map Maker. These simple
tools are great for allowing the increasing number of 'laptop' GM's to provide their players with some visual orientation
during gameplay. For example, the Star Map Maker could be used to show the positions of the planets in a simple
solar system.

EXPEDITIONS AND EXPLORERS
Exploring the unknown, mapping trade routes, gathering scientific information, spreading religious beliefs, gathering military
allies, the search for gold. These are just some of the reasons behind the greatest adventures ever. This
weeks new addition to the RPG TOOLBOX, 'Starting Points-Explorers', will help you add these exciting elements
to your campaigns.
Consider the outcomes of the journeys of over 50 famous explorers. Did they end in death? Disease? Starvation?
Military conquest? What was encountered along the way? Friendly natives? Hostile environments?
Decide who will be the explorers in your campaign. The PC's? Major NPC's looking to hire the players.
Travelling NPC's who happen to stumble across the players' homeland, thinking that they themselves have 'discovered' a new
land in need of conquering.
The possibilities are endless....if you just know where to start!

INTRODUCING THE 'STARTING POINTS' SERIES OF RPG TOOLS
Do you have the interest in doing a little research for your RPG's but don't quite no where to start? Did it used to be
common for you to crack a few books during the week before your gaming session, but your list of ideas has run dry?
The 'Starting Points' series of RPG tools are here to help. They provide enough information to point you in the right direction,
to aid the brainstorming process, to give you a few new 'keywords' for your internet search.
The first two members of this exciting new series are now available for FREE online use. They are 'Starting Points - Wars'
and 'Starting Points - Civilizations'. Pick an ancient civilization (ever heard of the Ife society in Nigeria) or a real-life
war...gather information...breathe life into your RPG campaign.
Future installments to be available soon will include religions, world explorers, famous battles, and astrology.
